Tara Rae Miner

TARA RAE MINOR grew up in a small logging town in the foothills of the Oregon Cascades, where she first fell in love with wild rivers, trees, mountains, and critters. This allegience, plus her literary leanings, eventually launched her into a career built on words mostly about the environment. Tara has a master's degree in science from the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Montana. For the past decade, Tara has written for and edited at several print and online publications; appeared on panels at environmental, journalism, and booksellers' conferences and gatherings; and served as a judge for the Reed Environmental Writing Award. Most recently, she was managing editor at Orion magazine, where work that she edited won a Pushcart Prize and was reprinted in Best Creative Nonfiction. These days Tara keeps busy wrangling her toddler daughter in Portland, Oregon, and am very grateful for the help she receives in this endeavor from her husband and remarkable Australian shepherd.
