A great opportunity to practice alpine touring (AT) gear on inbounds terrain before going on one of MAC's backcountry ski trips. If we have enough time and chaperones (car space), then we will finish the trip at the avalanche transceiver training area for some practice with probes and transceivers as a follow-up to the NIKO course.
See trip sheet for details.
Prerequisites: At least 2 years of in-bounds skiing experience and ability to ski black diamond runs (not necessarily in good style) in any conditions. You must be able to get down the hill.
Students will either need to have their own AT kit or rent one. You can rent touring skis/bindings and boots from:
- Ascent Outdoors in Seattle
- ProSki in North Bend or Seattle
- Evo in Seattle.
