Trip Report

Winter Scramble - Revolution Peak

Energetic group ran out of daylight to get the summit, but still got a great workout.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Snow began around 2,400 feet. Switched to snowshoes around 4,000 feet when over a foot of new snow was found. Deep new snow along ridge between Thompson and Revolution as well.

Group of five gave ourselves an ambitious eight hours to do Revolution. We started hiking at 8am, summitted Thompson Point around 12:30. A lot of bashing through half-burried alder on the road.

The ridge had plenty of snow, even on boulders, but when we got to the low point between Thompson and Revolution, we were at our turnaround time of 1pm. Made it back to the cars at 4:30 just before dark. Jackets and gloves soaked. Maybe another hour to do this if you need to break trail.

A pair of trekking poles left behind at a break were not found on the way down, or at the trailhead. Someone has a 5 year old pair of poles that have been up hundreds of peaks, plus 5 years of hand sweat and blood in the cork. My email and phone number are on them. But who returns lost (stolen) equipment anymore?
