Winter Scramble - Mount Teneriffe

Great work out, weather better than forecast.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Nice new trail system. Hit snow at 4200, needed micro spikes  to continue, very icy compact snow.   200' from the summit had deeper snow,  followed previous kicked steps to  summit.

Great new parking area  with outhouses. Gate opens at 7 closes at 4. Discover pass required. Headed up the trail at 8:15  3 hours to the summit, 2.5 hrs down. took climbers trail just before Kamikaze Falls, then ridge to the summit. Forecast predicting 70% rain 10 -20 mph  with gusts to 30 mph wind. Saw wind around 10 mph , mostly on summit and a bit on the ridge, No rain.

The old school bus turn around parking is still there. Has a discover pass parking sign. Could be useful if wanting to do a longer trip returning after main lot gate is closed.
