Winter Scramble - Arrowhead Mountain (winter)

Arrowhead is a winter wonderland with lots of heavy, unconsolidated snow. We broke most of the trail, go NOW!

  • After crossing the RR tracks into the forested slope, head NE out of the underbrush to taller douglas fir.  We broke trail up to the ridge to 5000 feet, you're on your own to the summit.

We left the trailhead at 8:00 am, walked along the RR tracks for 1.2 miles and went up the slope. At around 3200 feet we had about 18 inches of heavy, unconsolidated snow to break trail. At 3800 ft the snow became chest high in places.  We made it to the ridge, with approximately 1200 ft left. We turned around due to time. Go NOW, while the most of the trail is already broken.
