Wagonwheel Lake/Wagonwheel Trail

The trail is still steep (as advertised) and in good shape. It is a very good conditioner. Some small blow down trees across trail. Encountered snow at the end of the tree line. Did not cross the snowfield. Was there on 2/27/16 to do a pre-trip trip and found a fresh avalanche across the trail to the lake. On this trip there was about 12" new heavy wet snow on top of the previous snow fall with another new avalanche further away from the previous one and snow rollers on the slope. Due to these conditions and the "considerable" warning from NWAC we did not proceed to the lake. It was a very wet and soggy day. Went car to tree line to car in 4 hours. It was a definite incentive to move quickly.
