Tahtlum Peak

We scrambled Tahtlum (Pt 6507 on the Cougar Lake USGS) on 9/6/2014, gaining 1,900’ in 5 ½ hours. Parking at Chinook Pass, we hiked the PCT south till the ridge before Dewey Lake. We then approached Tahtlum over the two bumps east of Pt 6046. On return we found a beaten trail exiting the PCT left just after it begins the decent to Dewey Lake that skirts the bumps to the south. An intermittent boot track, not technically difficult but loose in places, leads to the scenic views at Tahtlum’s summit.
