Trip Report

South Early Winter Spire/South Arête

From Adam Doody: An instant classic, SEWS is the stuff of every alpine climber's dream. It's business on the front end with this route, as the climb's slopey crux is over after your first half dozen moves. From there on out, prepare to be dazzled with alpine splendor. Between the chimney and the camel's bump, beware the fabled north cascadian ghost spider and its appetite for flesh of hand. If ever you find yourself wondering what do next, heed the sage advice of Nelson: Listen to more jazz. Don't forget to plank the whale.
