Trip Report

Slippery Slab Tower/Northeast Face

The weather forecast was for 30% chance of showers and then partly sunny after 11AM. It basically rained from 4AM to 11AM straight. We left the trailhead at 7:45AM and reached the base of the scramble gully at 10:15AM. We set a hand line up the gully as the rock was wet. The rock was still wet on the first pitch and as a drying trend didn't seem to be materializing, we decided to turn around. As we rapped down from the base of the first pitch, the clouds started to clear and the sun slowly came out. I could see the basin below the tower for the first time. A couple of Townsend's Solitaires flitted about in the clear air. Ahhhh, to wonder a what could have been. 8 hours car to car.
