For the Pt. Evans station max. ebb current was -2.8 kts at 9:49am, slack 12:36pm, max. flood was 3.1 kts at 2:54pm . Wind was variable to 5 kts or less. Wind waves were 1 foot or less. 49 degree F high temp. Overcast to partly sunny day. Tides were high at 6:24am 13.3 ft, low at 11:54am 6.7, and high again at 4:59pm 11.7.
Our group met around 9:30am at Titlow Park and wheeled boats to the shoreline for a launch around 10:30. We rode the current along the eastern side of the channel arriving at Point Defiance around noon. We took a leisurely break for lunch and waited for the currents to change. We observed sea lions and seals fishing off the point. Unfortunately no whales were seen.
As the current changed, we launched around 1:30pm and caught the current through the main channel. We paddled toward Days Island point so we could catch the back eddy back into the bay to our launch point.
Various sea birds were observed.
