Sea Kayak - Saddlebag Island

We picked a day with no current and minimal tides and the weather was perfect. Group stayed together well and was very congenial.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Wind was at 5kts and waves had no white caps.  Boating traffic was busy and you needed to be watchful.

As we approached Seafarer's park at the end of our trip an oil tanker was turning and taking off.  We needed to hold up a bit but we are all delighted in seeing the tugboats in action.  the Tanker even sounded 5 blasts at a small watercraft in his way.  We were glad is was not us!!

For fun we circumnavigated Dot Island.  It looked like the Blue Herons have overrun the place! We found a fun shallow pass through between the two sections of Dot island and played with our kayaks there a while.
