Sea Kayak - Commencement Bay

This was a Student Paddle originating from the floating dock of Thea Foss. We had a harbor seal playing on the dock to send us off. The paddle went well with an urban feel along Rustin Way and into Commencement Bay. We experienced boat traffic with some wave action  to heighten the experience during the paddle. We played around the pilings to practice boat control. We had good weather, the wind picked up at the end to give a bit of a challenge getting back to the dock. The team was active & engaged; switching kayaks,  trying & learning new skills beyond the required self & assisted rescues. It was a great day. All participants have completed the required paddles for graduating from the Tacoma Mountaineers Basic Class!
