Scramble - Dirtybox via Mailbox

Hiked the old Mailbox peak trail to the summit and scrambled across to Dirtybox

  • It was cloudy and cool. I came up the old Mailbox Peak trail and then traversed from Mailbox to Dirtybox. There was no snow at all on the Mailbox Peak trail nor on its summit. There was still snow under the trees near the summit of Dirtybox.

The most technical part of the traverse is soon after you leave Mailbox heading toward Dirtybox. The bootpath (there is no trail) was initially hard to find. Someone has clipped the branches of bushes along the bootpath, so when I had doubts about my route finding I would look for cut branches as a sign of confidence that I was going the right way.  There is still some snow under the trees near the peak of Dirtybox, but nowhere else. I lost the route on the snow, but I just kept heading up hill and soon I saw pink ribbons tied to the trees guiding me the last little bit to the summit.
