Sail - Esther, Port of Edmonds Marina

We were a little late to the start, but crossed within minutes.  Hot on the tail of the other two boats. Unfortunately the wind died as we approached the windward mark, then the ebbing tide started pulling us South, and inshore.  We could see the bottom pretty clearly.  A small crab was outrunning us.  Better than making the race committee wait it out for the 5 hour time limit, and to avoid running aground, we withdrew from the race and headed back to the barn.  Looking forward to next week's race though!  Today's crew was good company and tolerant of our lack of speed.
