Trip Report

Rock Thunder Peak

On 7/11/15, we started in cloudy weather with occasional light showers, which made for pleasant hiking after several weeks of temperatures that were much higher than this Seattle native prefers. However, all the vegetation was quite wet, and when we reached the steep slope 2 or 3 hundred feet below the ridge, I decided that it was just too slippery to be safe.

Otherwise, it was a very pleasant trip. The meadows and ponds east of Snow Lake are quite lovely and much less crowded than the lake. Also, amazingly for the first half of July, at least 2 kinds of huckleberries were already ripening.
