Arrived at the parking lot at 8:45 a.m. on a Sunday.  Many mountain bikers prepping for a ride, but they headed off in the opposite direction and we never saw them again.  We did hear lots of gunfire with some of it seeming to be pretty close.  Most problematic was a stretch of trail about a half mile long just before coming to the forest service road that takes you to the summit.  (see pictures)  The trail looks like it has been very recently logged on both sides to make it wider - possibly for another forest service road?  Branches and debris littered the trail, leaving us to step over or on it, and it was pretty slow going.  I had scheduled a trip there in April that was cancelled due to Coronavirus - glad I checked it out today because I would not want to lead a hike here with the trail in these conditions.  When we returned to the parking lot there were a lot of motorized ATV's preparing to ride.  This was my first time on this trail on a weekend; I had never heard gunfire nor encountered ATV's before - between the ATV's and the gunfire, I think I would probably avoid weekends in the future.
