Aka Mount Peak or Mount Pete. My two companions and I began our trek at the Cal Magnusson trailhead south of Enumclaw. We started around 9 a.m. and there were several cars already parked along the road. There is no parking lot and no permit needed, there was a porta-potty at the trailhead. The trail was in good condition with occasional rocks and roots. A large amount of interesting columnar basalt along the upper trail.
Our goal was 3 round trips in order to gain close to 3000'. We did 1.75 round trips on the main trail, and did the 3rd one via the "Goat Trail." The Goat Trail starts just to the right of the main trail and is not signed, but does appear on Gaia. It is aptly named - no switchbacks, just straight up. There are foot indentations along the way, and lots of roots and rocks. If you do this route, have good lug boots for traction, poles, and I'd recommend descending the main trail. Don't do the Goat Trail in muddy conditions.
Totals for 3 round trips: 5.5 miles rt, 2600' gain. No view from the summit, but it is a worthwhile hike for conditioning. Go early and mid-week to avoid crowds.
