North Fork Skokomish River & Flapjack Lakes

On 03/28/15, a group of Mountaineer and guest day hikers completed the 16 mile round trip Black and White Lake Loop trail from the Staircase Trailhead. On this Saturday, we left the trailhead at 8:40 am and reached Black and White Lakes at 1:30 pm while hiking the trail clockwise. We were back at the trailhead at 6:20 pm. The Black and White Lakes trail was in much better condition than expected for a early Spring day. A small amount of snow remained on the hills above the lakes, but none was left on the around the lakes nor on the trail. We enjoyed lunch on a grassy area overlooking the lakes. Before connecting to the Flapjack Lakes Trail on our way back to the trailhead, slippery rocks in Donahue Creek made the crossing a bit challenging for some in our group. This trail made for a great overall conditioner day hike.
