Trip Report

Mount Stuart/Cascadian Couloir

Awesome scramble with ideal route conditions. Steep snow section on upper slope, 8600-8800' elevation only required crampons and ice ax.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Longs Pass trail to Ingalls Creek is snow free.

Ascended using climber's trail on right side of tradition Ingalls Creek campsite, which everyone thought had easier traction and more direct than the climber's left trail we used on descent.

I do not know how to upload Gaia gpx. track to this trip report, but similar to tracts on Gaia and Peakbagger websites.

***Snow only on higher slope starting 8400'. The steep section 8600-8800' (35 ramping to 45 degree) had friendly snow that only required crampons and ice ax. Once we gained ridge, traversed fun rock to summit with no snow.

Entire dirt road in good condition-few pot holes.

Lots of cars, but large parking lot at end of road = TH.

TH to traditional base camp Ingalls Creek (2nd location, 200 yards further down trail): 3 hours.

Left base camp at Ingalls Creek 5:10am

Summitted 11:25am

Started descend 12:35pm

Walked into base camp 5:50pm and enjoyed 2nd night of relaxed camping.

Base camp to TH 8am-10:40am
