Mount Baring/Northwest Ridge

Gorgeous clear day and 9 in group summited in 5 hours. No snow in gully to notch. Rock easy to scramble at notch and on boulders near summit. Total time for trip was 10 hours, some had cramping on the way down, had to drink more liquid and rest. Armando's GPS shows 5,277 elevation gain, which is more than the traditional 4,000 listed. One does go up and down on ridge and into basin before final approach. Also trip is 7 mi, not 8. Terrain is very steep and exhausting in warm weather. This year NO water in basin so be sure to bring 3 liters of liquid. Never used micro-spikes or ice axes- no snow. A good time was had by all.
