Trip Report

Montlake Fill (Union Bay Natural Area)

Vicki King led us on a wonderful bird identification field trip for the Introduction To The World class. There were a lot of birds (and some wildflowers). Vicki is very knowledgeable about birds and freely gives away her enthusiasm and knowledge. I left the trip more interested in birding than I was before I arrived. Here is a list of birds we saw:

American Goldfinch
American Robin
Bald Eagle
Blacked-capped Chickadee
Blue-winged Teal Duck
Brown-headed Cowbird
Cinnamon Teal Duck
Common Starling
Gadwall Duck
Great Blue Heron
House Finch
Killdear
Mallard Duck
Red-winged Blackbird
Red-necked Duck
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Tree Swallow
Vesper Sparrow
White-crown Sparrow
Wood Duck

Some wildflowers that were in bloom:
Creeping Buttercups
Purple Salsify
Yellow Flag
