Lake Valhalla

From the trailhead at Smith brook Road (FS 6700) the trail is quite muddy with lots of water flowing in the tread. From Union Gap on the PCT there was a dusting of snow and ice but not enough of an issue for the use of traction devices.

The fall colors are pretty much gone now but there were lots of varieties of fungi in orange, yellow, white and brown. The water level at the lake is high due to the recent rain so the beach at the northwest shore is fairly narrow right now.

Smith Brook Road (FS 6700) is getting worse but it is still passable with most vehicles if you take it easy through the many pot holes.
