Intermediate Snowshoe - Rattlesnake Mountain (East)

This was to be a snowshoe trip to Lake Valhalla but due to avalanche concerns it was changed to East Peak of Rattlesnake Mountain.

  • Followed the trail from Rattlesnake like to East Peak. It started with no snow after about a half mile we put on micro spikes for the snowy/icy conditions. About a half mile beyond the upper ledge we switch to snowshoes as the snow got deeper as we went.

A cloudy day with snow fall all day. Stopped at each of the ledge levels to check out the views which were limited. Followed the normal trail to the East Peak tower. Put on the snowshoes about a half mile from the upper ledge and the snow got deeper as we when. Nice snowshoe trip near to town with no avalanche issues.
