Trip Report

Intermediate Snowshoe - Kendall Second Knob

We ascended the PCT from Snoqualmie Pass to a little past the switchback at 4,500' then ascended off trail to a viewpoint.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Despite thin snow at Snoqualmie Pass, once we started up the PCT there was plenty of snow for snowshoeing.  The trail was well trodden the whole way, with a couple of sections of solid ice at stream crossings.  Snowshoes remained in our packs the whole way; microspikes were essential.

Brilliant sunshine made for a most scenic day in the mountains.  While we didn't attain the amphitheater of a previous trip to Second Kendall Knob, we did find a pleasant window overlooking the Snoqualmie ski areas for lunch.
