Glacier Climb - Eldorado Peak/Inspiration Glacier

Route in excellent condition. Knife edge is nice and wide and water on route is plentiful.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • No road issues. Easy 20 mile drive up Cascade River Road. Log crossing is very obvious off the road 200 ft west of the parking area. Running water at 5,100 feet, 6,400, and at the island camp at the base of the ridge at 7,500 ft. Snow starts at 6,100 and other than the scramble across the basins, everything else was on snow. Minimal crevasse hazard up until the ridge. We hopped on the rock ridge for about 100 feet to avoid a suspect snow bridge with a bad run out. The knife edge is several feet wide. The route was in great condition.

Started on the trail at 4:30 summited at 12:30 and returned at 6:15. The group moved at a nice consistent pace on the way up then took in the views on a leisurely descent.
