Trip Report

Field Trip 1 - Seattle Naturalists Intro Natural World Course - Tiger Mountain Lowlands

Tiger Mountain walk from High Point, looking for conifers, ferns, shrubs, and plants.

  • Road impassable/closed
  • The gate was closed at 9:00 with a sign saying it would be closed all day.  We changed plans to meet at the gate instead of the parking lot.

We hiked the trail between the gate and the lot, and while noisy with traffic from I-90, we saw many species, including many fantastic maidenhair ferns.  The Swamp Trail and boardwalk would also make a great nature walk.  The dry part had many of the same species, and the boardwalk area had additional ones, such as skunk cabbage. It would also make a nice birding spot.
