Trip Report

Eldorado Peak/Inspiration Glacier

June 25, 2015. Group of six left trailhead at 5:15 AM. Log crossing was easy but trail on other side is a little hard to follow at first. Encountered snow at 5,800 feet. Roped up and put on crampons at 6,200 feet in Roush Creek basin. Crevasses were just starting to show on the Inspiration glacier but nothing was open on the route. There were very large cracks in snowfield on the east ridge but they were easily bypassed. The knife edge was wide and gentle and we did not set protection. We stayed on the warm sunny summit for 45 minutes. 14 hours total trip time car to car. Great crew and great day for my first climb lead!
