Day Hike - Wallace Falls & Wallace Lake Loop

Sunshine was delayed but the cool day fueled a splendid hike.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail was in good condition with minor mud to the forest road above the falls.  No blowdown on trail.  There was abundant evidence of WTA and/or DNR work with new steps, repaired railing and other efforts to improve the safety and carrying capacity.

Six hours (8 to 2) with abundant parking early and the usual weekend overflow later.  Overcast most of the day with some light precip early and low cloud cover obscuring valley and some waterfall views.  Encountered about 50m of water-covered forest road near the lake.  Best approach heading west was on the left (south) side of the road with minor stream jumping.  Ankle gaiters did the trick.  Access to Greg Ball and the G Ball trail were in excellent condition.  No blow down on the trail.
