Day Hike - Wallace Falls

Great day out, fresh snow to walk on and a bit of rain.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Snow/slush for the first bit until you reach the wooded trail turnoff. Snow on bridges and some parts of the trail. Trekking poles will come in handy.

Group gathering at map by the bathrooms for gear check a little after 8 am. Light drizzle on top of overnight snow. Trail was a bit slushy for the first bit under the power lines. Took our time on the way up stopping at placards learning about the river. Stopped off for a bite to eat at covered shelter and to loose a layer before hitting the switchbacks. Lots of good conversations going on and a friendly atmosphere all around. Pictures at the middle falls lookout before the trek up to the upper falls. Quick lunch once we reached the upper falls about 11am. Haiku contest during lunch, lots of creativity from this group. Smiles, and more great conversation. Headed back down about 11:20. The rain held off most traffic until noon, when we noticed more heading up, a few friendly dogs too. Back down to the cars at 1pm. Group discussion about the day, more smiles. Prizes handed out, more smiles! Great way to spend my Saturday. Thanks everyone.
