Day Hike - Twin Falls (Olallie State Park)

A lovely destination for a soggy day.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail wide with stairs and boardwalk.  Very little mud.

Even on this rainy Black Friday this is a popular trail.  We started from the lower TH.  The small parking lot was nearly full when we arrived mid morning.  Lots of smiling families (couples, kids, dogs) out enjoying the fresh air.  It rained off and on and mist swirled through the mossy trees.  It was interesting to see how the character of the river changed from wide and slow with deep pools to narrow and rushing over the falls.  We stopped at all of the view points.  Once past the upper view point, we had the trail pretty much to ourselves the rest of the way to the Iron Horse Trail junction where we turned around.
