The trail was mostly dry with just a few muddy sections. There was one significant downed tree that the group went over, under or around depending on personal preference. No horses were encountered though we did see evidence that they had been on the lower trails.
We started off at approximately 8am from the May Valley trailhead. There was still plenty of parking available at that time. Our group of friendly and well-conditioned hikers completed a clockwise loop, starting on the May Valley trail, transitioning to the Bullitt Gorge trail, taking the Perimeter Loop trail to visit Debbie's view, then the West Peak trail to the easy-to-miss West Peak, joining the Bullitt fireplace trail to the fireplace (where we stopped for a snack/early lunch) and continuing over to Central Peak where we tagged the summit by the radio towers. We then descended via the Summit trail and Phil's Creek trail where we crossed the beautiful new bridge and traveled along the lovely re-routed trail through the woods to the lower May Valley loop, finishing up with a short road walk. Trail conditions were excellent, the weather dry and we finished up in 3 hours 40 minutes.
