The route was wet and muddy at places. There was some running water in irrigation ditches on the trail.
Met Monty, Divid and Sid at the W. Sunset Trailhead at 9 am. I had to run to a restroom before we got started since there was none at the trailhead and we got going at 9:30 am.
After a few twists and turns we found our way to Adventure Trail.
The ups and downs of Adventure Trail was enjoyable. While the day was grey and cloudy with almost no visibility there is always plenty to see on the trail.
Eventually we made our way onto High School Trail and then onto Poo Poo Point Trail.
As we made our way along Poo Poo Point Trail we encountered a number of small streams with foot bridges over them.
After the foot bridges the elevation gain is pretty drastic with long stretches up with no switchbacks. Eventually came across these two trees (sequoias I think) that seem like they were guarding the trail.
The really steep sections ended about 1/2 mile from the Poo Poo Point but don't be surprised by a few more steep downhill sections.
About three hours from the start we arrived at Poo Poo Point. Instantly got colder and winder with no cover from the trees. It is also odd to find restrooms at the halfway mark of your hike.
Pretty low clouds up there. I was still amazed you could see Bellevue and I think part of Point Defiance in Tacoma,
After about 20 minutes we started to head down.
The trip down was pretty uneventful. Just getting down safely and snowly and with my knees intact.
The whole trip was just under 9 miles and took just over 4 hours and 50 minutes with an average pace of 32 min/miles. I had my GPS watch running the whole trip and it shows our route and altitude gain and loss.
