Trip Report

Day Hike - Olallie Lake

Stream crossing too high for safety. We still had a good trip.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail is in great shape, but stream crossings were running high.

Stream CrossingExcellent after-hours conditioner. We turned back at the second major stream crossing on the Pratt Lake trail. The first crossing was higher than normal, but OK to cross. This one   was running fast enough to make us question if it was safe and we would have had wet feet for the rest of the trip. We turned around and then hiked part way up the Granite Mtn trail, until we found an excellent view spot for dinner. We achieved our two main goals: a good preseason conditioner and an enjoyable evening in the wilderness.

The only snow we encountered was debris from an avalanche near the beginning of the Granite Mountain trail. We met a hiker who lost the trail under snow higher up.
