Trip Report

Day Hike - Mount Si Old Trail

Snow is virtually gone, and the trail is in great shape (for what it is). Nice weather, beautiful forest, and mule deer.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • There is only a little bit of snow left on the trail (up by the junction with the new trail and beyond), and the patches were easily avoidable. We brought microspikes, but did not need to use them. The trail was remarkably dry and mud-free, especially given the amount of rain we've had recently.

What can I say about the Mt. Si Old Trail that hasn't been said yet? (see above for trail conditions)

We lucked out on weather: the forecast two days before called for snow and temperatures in the 30s, then it changed to rain and 40s (worse!). We ended up hiking under partially sunny skies, with comfortable temperatures, lots of birdsong and nice views across the valley. A strong, fun group made this hike delightful. On our way down, we came across two mule deer!
