Trip Report

Day Hike - Mount Si Main Trail

Beautiful day, somewhere between winter and spring!

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The main Si trail is in excellent shape. Icy old snow began about 1.5 miles from the top and gradually transitioned into a nice, packed boot path. We needed spikes for traction, especially on the lower stretches with ice. Several large potholes in the parking area, mostly while coming and going.

Gorgeous day out, not too cold but somewhat windy up top and in places along the way. Still a lot of snow up there, several feet in places. Not many other hikers in the morning, but met several more on our way down. We had lunch in a nice protected spot just below our high point where Gray Jays or "Camp Robbers" dive bombed our lunch a couple of times! But we managed to mostly keep them away. A very enjoyable uncrowded day on Si!
