Trip Report

Day Hike - Mima Falls

Nice spring hike. Trails clear and in good condition. Wildflowers in bloom.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • We started at the McKenny Campground parking lot off Waddell Creek Road.  We took the McKenny Trail, the Mima Falls Tie, and Mima Falls West to the falls.  The trails were all well-maintained, in good condition and clear of blowdown.  These are horse trails, and mostly have a gravel or hard-packed earth treadway, and were well drained with little mud in spite of rain.   According to Caltopo, we hiked 7.5 miles, with a starting elevation of 245', max 600', total gain 909'.  Hiking time was 3.1 hours.  Much recent logging activity in the area.
