Day Hike - Licorice Fern Trail

Pleasant evening hike in the forest.

  • This is an easy hike and the trail is mostly good. But on the Licorice Fern trail there are some rooty stretches.  I was glad I brought my trekking poles for the few steep sections. The trail is well packed down from use and so there isn't much for your boots to grip onto.

We had a nice time with dinner at Far Country Lookout. There is no water in the falls now. When we arrived, there was a couple whose car had been broken into. Police told them that cars are being broken into in the area to steal the registration as this can be used for identity theft. We took everything with identification information  out of our cars and  into our packs. Fortunately no one came back to break into our cars.
