Day Hike - Laurelhurst

Trees, flowers and frogs all in full, spring bloom. A lovely walk past charming homes with grand views to Lake Washington from many vantage points.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Sidewalks, stairs and crossing all in good shape.

Free parking is a bonus at the entrance to Yessler Swamp where the boardwalk keeps feet dry year round.  The neighborhood shows great pride (and fiscal resource) of ownership with some stunning plantings and landscape architecture on what are mostly small lots.  Lots of up and down with two splendid stairways to lake level.  Weather timing was again fortuitous with light mist finding us in the last 30 minutes on the return leg with headlamps highlighting the moisture.  As ever, walkers noted they'd found new places to visit, even with decades of Seattle residence.  One hiker grew up in Laurelhurst and had childhood tales to spin.  About 2 1/4 hours at good pace for 4 miles.
