Day Hike - Ingalls Lake

Peak of larch season = peak of crowds

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Early snow from last week on parts of the trail, especially the first half mile going around headlight basin.  Just a couple of inches, probably no problem when it was fluffy.  Since the snowfall, hundred of hikers have come through compacting the snow.  I'm predicting that after Saturday night it is going to freeze into a skating rink.  If you must go I would require traction at this point and have a realistic understanding that you may need to turn around.

I stopped counting the cars after 100.  We had to park 0.4 miles away from the trailhead.  The larches were at their prime.  We had a good time and got some great photos.
