Day Hike - Granite Mountain Trail

Firm snow at the junction of winter and summer routes. Cornices next to lookout prevented us from coming up to lookout.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail was in good condition with many large pieces of granite scattered all the way. Trail was snow covered from the junction of the winter and summer routes. We traveled up the north side of the trail, to below the lookout. We did not reach the lookout as the ridge had cornices and was not safe to get any closer.

From the trailhead to about 300 feet below the lookout took us about 3.5 hours with a total of 39 minutes for breaks.
