Trip Report

Day Hike - Duckabush River

A great day hike.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Hiked to the top of Big Hump. There were  no blowdowns and no landslides. A conversation with a fellow coming in reported that the WTA and the Horsemen had done significant work in the past two weeks. This was also evidenced by fresh cutting dust.

Trail has water crossing it 4 times and the trail is a bit stony, risking an ankle roll if you are not careful.

The trailhead reveals quite a bit of broken window glass. Not sure how old. The trail head has had a reputation previously for breakins.

There were at least five vehicles when I finished the hike and they were undisturbed.

There was a deer on the trail near the top of Big Hump.

Several species of flower were blooming. I'm a guy, so look, they are flowers of size, shape and colour, and that's all I know about them.

My Garmin told me that I travelled 8.56 miles round trip to Big Hump and the net elevation work was 1885 feet.
