Day Hike - Double Mount Si Main Trail

A Double Si conditioner with a timed first leg (under 2 hours) up the new trail.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The parking lot at the New Trailhead is very very potholed right now.  Small cars beware.  We hit ice about 3/4 of the way up on each summit and used poles and microspikes for both summits.  We went up the new trail, down the old, up the old, and then down the new.Double Si leg 3.jpg

This was a Double Si conditioner with participants having the option to carry 25% of their body weight to the first summit in under 2 hours.  We reached the first summit in 1:50, moving at a conversational pace and stopping twice to remove layers and put on microspikes.  We had a little rain, a little grauppel, and a little snow.  The clouds lifted as we reached the summit for the second time.  We left a vehicle at the Little Si Trailhead filled with snacks and extra water for the second lap.  Participants were also able to leave wet and dirty clothes in the car to be retrieved at the end. Total trip time including all breaks was 8 hours.  

The secret to a conditioner like this is great company and a lot of snacks.  Bacon jerky, Oreos, and Parmesan Goldfish crackers fueled this group!  Double Si second summit.jpg
