Day Hike - Deception Pass State Park: Goose Rock

Good tread, Goose Rock perimeter trail is less busy and great views. One section looks like it goes down to the beach...it doesn't so keep hiking and you will get to the last junction to go up on top for 360 degree views. Windy on top.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Great tread, most junctions are signed but not all.  Some exposed slope areas on the perimeter trail and they are have some revegitation projects on the summit.

We started from the parking area by the entrance and walked to the N. Beach TH/pkg area.  The N. Beach pkg lot is smaller and since we were doing the loop/perimeter trail & summit we decided to warm up walking from the Cranberry lake lot to the TH for a little extra mileage.

Once you go under the bridge there will be several junctions, stay to the left and you will be on the perimeter trail.  One section (as you see the marina across the bay) goes down and cuts hard right into the slope so it looks like it goes to the beach from above.  Just continue down and it will turn hard, the next junction is signed to go up to the summit or you can continue and come out near the park administration building on SR 20.
