Day Hike - Camp Pleasant

Nice mostly shady hike along the North Fork Skokomish.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Started early due to predicted warm weather and possible late afternoon showers.

All stream crossings are doable on bridges or stepping rock to rock. One log to go over, one log to go under on trail past turn off to Flap Jack lakes.

Geese on road near Party Rock.

Note to backpackers: Bear sighting at campground area by another hiker.

Mom and cub near Camp Pleasent. We saw a bear just shy camp Pleasent, lead hiker said "bear" and bear ran off toward river. We turned around as some backpackers had seen the same black bear earlier and unknown if there was a cub. Latter on way back to trail head a backpacker reported that a mom and cub in that area had acted "agressively" toward some backpackers. No more details were given. Saw Elk droppings no elk. Several Douglas squirls and a chipmunk.

Saw some vanilla leaf plants and skunk cabagge.

Most backpackers headed to Big Log camp. I'd recommend a bear canister.
