Cross-country Ski - Snoqualmie Summit West

Good workout session. Weather more favorable than forecast.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Groomed snow was in good condition -- except near the bottom where there had been a lot of foot traffic from sledders -- as the area had been closed during day due to a power outage.

We split into two teams based on pacing.   I was in the slower paced group and Peter with the speedier group.     The slow group managed 3 laps and 2000vft of elevation gain in two and a half hours.   We  used the Summit's designated uphill route.   As the ski area was closed and there were no lift served skiers to dodge -- the speedy group opted to skin directly up the Pacific Crest run.     Forecast called for a temperature of 7F -- but the temperature was actually 18F -- so not too bad.

Snow conditions were enjoyable.
