Trip Report

Cascade Pass/Sahale Arm

This was an Aug. 12, 2015 hike. 2nd half of Cascade River Rd. is serious washboard and slowwwww driving. Only a few potholes however. We were a party of 6. Very smoky from fires in E. WA. We thought it affected our breathing a little. Old, old dirty snow on the mountains, but still a spectacular area. Trail to the Pass was very dusty but in good condition. Trail up Sahale Arm has been improved, but still a few sections of slow talus. Saw bear, deer and big fat marmots. A few flowers still out. We topped out at 6,700', 500' from Glacier Camp. Stats were: 8 hours, 10.5 miles, 3,290'. Add 2 hours to go to Glacier Camp. Chuck Gustafson
