Bryant Peak (winter)

March 10, 2015--9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Originally planned as a combo with Hemlock however we did not summit Bryant until 2 p.m. and had a 3 p.m. turn around time. Knowing we did not have time to get over to Hemlock we enjoyed the sunshine and views from the top of Bryant. The trail to Hemlock Pass was dry down low in the trees, but compact snow/ice in places up to Hemlock Pass. From the pass we used crampons as even the snow free ground was frozen and steep. Snow was solid from the first bench below the Bryant/Hemlock saddle. Steps in the snow made it easy to find the path to the base of the summit. The snow was hard requiring ice ax and crampons most of the way. The final block was clear of snow and an easy scramble to the summit.
