Trip Report

Boston Harbor Vicinity

7/16/14.A westerly breeze met us at the put in. Several participants expressed interest in going to Brisco Point and surfing the standing waves where the surface chop generated by the wind met the incoming tide. The current was predicted at over 2 knots. We paddled up the mainland shore to Little Fishtrap. Here we split into 2 groups, one group of 7 for surfing and another group of 6 aiming to paddle up the East shore of Hartstene I. for a mile or so. The E. Hartstene paddlers returned from their trip 30 or 40 minutes later and found the surfers wooping & hollering with joy. We regrouped, crossed Dana Passage back to the mainland side and returned to Boston Harbor. Too much fun and great experience for all. No swimmers. Estimated 5.5 nm.
