Entire area significantly melted out vs. 2 weeks ago when we did the main FT. (this was a make up). Stream crossing low and easy, but still needed sandals-- or alternate is makeshift log crossing about 5 ft upstream which we used. No snow until near basin. Summer users trail is exposed off and on all the way thru basin. found plenty of snow to camp on off to the side, but only about 2 ft deep. we camped on right (east) side to avoid avy debris and to stay in drier terrain. Main basin is flowing with meltwater, emerging flowers, etc. Will be awesome display in a week. Glacier lilies still out, but Shooting star, marsh marigold, others budding. Enough snow on slope approaching Bean to still practice some snow skills, we waited until about 8 am for it to be soft enough to kick more easily.
Much to my surprise, someone has very installed a summit register, dated May 24th. we were the 3rd party to sign it. Look for white PVC tube with caps.
