We avoided the road and took the wooded trail. This route is more interesting with with ups and downs and is safe from avalanche hazards. Well packed snow trail all the way to Louise Lake. Snow was rather crusty on the surface outside the path. Gorgeous views of Tatoosh peaks and Rainier. It's well worth the extra half mile or so to Louise Lake from Reflection, you get a different perspective of the surrounding hills - can't say 'gorgeous' enough times!
A little icy at Longmire upon our arrival at 8:30. The gate opened before 9:00 and we were headed up to Narada Falls at 8:45 and were on the trail by 9:30. Temps in the mid-30's at that time and breezy at the trailhead. It got warmer close to 50 degrees and almost no wind as we shoed along. Blue sky, beautiful day to be there! We were back to the cars by 2:30.
Everyone had a good time, great camaraderie!
